Two Weyburn Comp students awarded full scholarships to U of S

Weyburn Comp Grade 12 students Dalton Molnar and Gracyn Knipfel were awarded with prestigious full scholarships for the University of Saskatchewan on Monday.

WEYBURN – Weyburn Comp Grade 12 students Dalton Molnar and Gracyn Knipfel were awarded with prestigious full scholarships for the University of Saskatchewan on Monday, and were congratulated by principal Ryan Fowler.

Dalton was presented with the George and Marsha Ivany President’s First and Best Scholarship, worth $40,000 over four years. He will be taking commerce at the Edwards School of Business.

Gracyn won the Chancellor’s Entrance Scholarship worth $24,000 over four years. She will be taking biomedical sciences at the U of S.

Both students were informed of the scholarships once they were called down to the Student Services office where their family members were waiting to share the news.

Representative Ally Chertez, a student recruitment officer for the U of S, was also on hand to pass on information about their scholarships.

Also recently, graduate Jamie Labbie was presented with the Governor General’s Academic Medal by Weyburn Comprehensive School principal Ryan Fowler.

The award is given to the graduating student with the highest overall average for all Grades 11-12 courses, for the 2021-22 school year.
