Two Weyburn companies donate to Legacy Park nutrition program

Donations were provided by Western Financial and the Wholesale Club grocery store for the nutrition program

WEYBURN - Two Weyburn companies provided donations to the nutrition program at Legacy Park Elementary School on Friday, helping to provide food at breakfast, lunch and throughout the day as needed for the 571 students of the school.

In the first photo, representatives of Western Financial presented a donation of food supplies and a $1,000 cheque to the Legacy Park Elementary School nutrition program.

In the front row are Scott Paxman, branch manager, and Rose Steketee, insurance advisor, and in between them is about $100 of ingredients for making muffins for students. In the back are principal Arlene Dobson and Shannon Seitz, community education liaison.

Seitz noted these are enough ingredients to make muffins for a couple of months at least at the school.

In the second photo, representatives of the Wholesale Club grocery store were on hand to present a donation of $10,000 to the Legacy Park Elementary School’s nutrition program.

In front are Sarat Kumar, store manager, and Janelle Kincaid, assistant manager, while in the back are Tyson O’Dell, vice-principal, Arlene Dobson, principal, and Shannon Seitz, community education liaison.

The funds were collected at the till from customers through the PC Children’s Charity. Kumar noted the Weyburn customers are among the most generous of any store in the region. Starting around Nov. 15, customers who wish can dedicate their PC Points to the Legacy Park School program.
