Weekly RCMP report

The report this week covers the period of Dec. 31, 2010, to Jan. 6, 2011.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP logged 34 calls in that time period.

Beginning on Dec. 31, a call was received reporting a break-and-enter at a business in Redvers.

Responding members, upon completion of their investigation, arrested a 44-year-old male resident of Redvers.

As of this writing, the party has plead guilty to charges related to the offence in court, and is now awaiting sentencing.

A complaint was received regarding a stolen vehicle in the Kisbey area.

Responding members located the vehicle with the suspect behind the wheel.

Showing signs of impairment, the suspect was tested, and showed over 0.08 blood alcohol level.

The suspect was lodged for the evening, then released the next morning with a promise to appear.

The suspect has been charged with theft under $5,000, as well as charges related to drunk driving.

Stemming from the above stated occurrence, members also assisted the Regina Police Service, as the individual had an order to appear in Regina.

Jan. 1 calls began with a report of a vehicle theft from the community of Arcola.

The vehicle was left idling on the street.

The RCMP would like to remind people that leaving a vehicle running, with unlocked doors and the keys inside, is a risky proposition.

According to Staff Sergeant Phil Harrison, an inordinate number of vehicle thefts occur with vehicles left in such a situation.

A 911 call was received at the detachment reporting an intoxicated individual who was uttering threats and had allegedly assaulted their partner.

A 23-year-old male was arrested at the scene, and was then transported to Arcola Hospital to receive treatment for wounds received previous to the member's arrival.

The suspect was then transported to cells for lodging, and has been charged with uttering threats and intimidation.

A request was received by a business in Kenosee Lake for members to patrol the area, due to a number of fights that had occurred.

Patrolling members discovered an individual who showed obvious signs of intoxication.

The individual was taken into custody and lodged in cells until the next day, when they were released.

No charges were laid in the matter.

A call to report a hit-and-run in a private driveway began calls on Jan. 2.

The caller, a resident of Redvers, reported their vehicle had been hit in the rear end while parked in their driveway.

A report of the incident was filed.

Another call from Redvers reported a break-and-enter at a private residence in the community.

The caller had returned from vacation, found their back door forced open and items missing.

Members located a suspect, however the complainant declined to press charges.

A 2005 pick-up truck, left idling with its keys in, was stolen from the rink in Arcola.

The vehicle was later recovered, undamaged, by Regina Police Service.

A caller contacted the detachment to complain of two large hay bales on highway 9, north of Kenosee Lake.

Responding members patrolled the area, but were unable to find the bales.

Jan. 3 members responded to a request from the United States Department of Homeland Security, and provided fingerprint samples for two persons.

A report of a hit-and-run in the community of Redvers was received, the caller stating that their vehicle, which had been parked in their driveway, had been rear-ended.

A report was taken from the caller and filed.

Jan. 4 calls began with an accident call from the vicinity of Forget.

Occurring on grid roads north of the community, the collision between a semi-truck and a pick-up truck left both drivers injured.

Responding emergency services freed both persons, and both were transported to Weyburn for treatment.

Icy roads were concluded to have caused the crash, which happened at an uncontrolled intersection, and no charges have been laid in the matter.

A 911 call reporting a fire in a quonset hut was forwarded to the Kipling Detachment when it was determined to be in that unit's jurisdiction.

No injuries were reported.

A complaint from a driver near Kisbey drew members to highway 13 near that community when the caller reported a possible drunk-driver.

The complainant informed members the vehicle had been swerving erratically, however when members found the vehicle, they found the driver to be suffering from a lack-of-sleep.

Members followed the driver to the community of Arcola, and instructed the driver to get some rest.

A speeding ticket in the amount of $135 was issued to a 31-year-old male on highway 13 near Arcola.

Jan. 5 calls began with a request to locate an individual.

The caller stated to members that the person had stepped out for a breakfast, but had been unseen and was not answering text messages for more than two-and-a-half hours.

Members located the individual in question, and informed the concerned party.

A call brought members to a residence to assist with an intoxicated individual.

The individual in question was taken into custody, and held in cells until sober.

No charges were laid in the matter.

Members rendered assistance to the Calgary Police Service by taking a DNA sample from an individual.

Jan. 6, a 911 call brought members to a residence after a follow-up call to the number was not answered.

Responding members were unable to locate the individual who called, and the matter is considered closed.

Members responded to a 911 call from the community of Manor to quell a domestic disturbance.

Once on scene, members separated the two and took statements.

No charges have been laid in the matter.

A call from OnStar drew members to the scene of a roll-over accident on highway 9.

The single car accident left the vehicle undriveable, however there were no injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

A complaint of assault was made to the detachment.

The complainant detailed an assault that had allegedly occurred earlier in the day.

The caller did not wish charges to be filed, however they asked members to fill out a report of the incident for the record, should a further incident occur.

A woman's black wallet was turned into the detachment that had been found on Main Street in Carlyle.

The owner was contacted.

A single vehicle roll-over on highway 8 drew members to the scene.

No injuries were reported, and no charges were laid.

A complaint was received regarding a burnt-out vehicle on a grid road north of Carlyle.

Responding members located the vehicle, a Ford Fusion, however both the license plate and the Vehicle Identification Number had been removed from the vehicle.

Police continue their investigation.
