Weyburn City Hall lowers flags for victims of tragedy

Flags at Weyburn's City Hall will remain at half-mast, one day for each of the victims of the attacks over the weekend in northern Saskatchewan.

WEYBURN – In respect of the tragedy at the James Smith Cree Nation and the village of Weldon, the City of Weyburn lowered its flags at City Hall to half-mast on Sept. 6, and will remain lowered one day for each life lost.

In a statement on the City’s website, they said, “Our hearts go out to the families of the victims, as well as the communities of James Smith Cree Nation, Weldon and surrounding area.

“We mourn alongside the entire province of Saskatchewan for the lives lost and those healing from the violent attacks.”

The attacks resulted in 10 deaths along with 18 people injured, some of whom remain in hospital with critical injuries.
