Weyburn family doubles cookie sales for charity

Jennie Moule and her daughters, Morgyn and Myla, doubled their sales of cookies in February and exceeded their goal, raising $7,855 for Mending Little Hearts Fund.

WEYBURN – Jennie Moule and her daughters, Morgyn and Myla, doubled their sales of cookies in February and exceeded their goal in the amount of money they will be donating to the Mending Little Hearts Fund of Saskatchewan.

The family had sold 223 dozen cookies last year and aimed to beat that, plus exceed the goal of $5,000 for the charity, and they did both.

They made and sold 446 dozen cookies, and raised a total of $7,855 for the charity, with some more funds still expected to come in.

This brings their three-year total for the charity to $14,773.

“It was phenomenal, the whole thing,” said Jennie in a live post to Facebook announcing the grand totals for the month-long cookie sale. “I’m just blown away, that is insane.”

She noted a lot of people helped by donating ingredients for the cookies, including  her grandparents, plus they had the use of the kitchen at the Church of Christ for making the cookie batches.

During the post, they made a draw for a prize donated by Pharmasave from everyone who bought cookies, and the winner was Tyler Metheral.

The funds help provide the CHAMPS camp for children with heart problems, like Morgyn, and she expressed her gratitude for the support of their cookie sales.

“I’m very happy because the money goes towards the CHAMPS camp. I just love to go there because I get to meet people with heart conditions like me,” she said.

“She feels at home there,” added Jennie.

Morgyn was born with a congenital heart defect called Pulmonary Atresia with a VSD and ASD. She has had two open heart surgeries so far in her life, and will need more down the road.

The Mending Little Hearts Fund allows people to make directed donations toward addressing the unmet needs of children living with heart conditions from all across Saskatchewan.
