Weyburn police deal with several domestic incidents

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 85 calls for service during the period of Dec. 12-18, resulting in a total of 19 charges. Of the charges, five were traffic related and 10 resulted from individuals who either failed to comply with a condition of their release or failed to appear in court when required to do so.

The holiday season is celebrated as a time of joy, but to many, it is also very stressful and challenging. Officers responded to several requests by friends, family, or concerned individuals, to check on an individual’s well-being during the week. Officers conducted the requested checks and provided assistance to those that they found in need.

On Tuesday evening, officers responded to a reported domestic dispute resulting in an adult male being arrested and charged with failing to comply with a condition of his release. The male was released with an upcoming court date.

On Wednesday evening, officers responded to a reported domestic dispute resulting in an adult male being charged with assault and mischief to property. The male was intoxicated and held in custody until the morning when he was sober and released with an upcoming court date.

On Saturday afternoon, officers responded to a reported domestic dispute and were able to mediate the matter without charges as both parties agreed to go separate ways for the evening and address the issue at a later time when both were calm. While dealing with the matter, officers executed an arrest warrant on another individual that was present. The individual was released with an upcoming court date.

With the significant amount of recent snowfall, and this week’s brutal cold weather forecast, the Weyburn Police remind all motorists to dress for the weather, and drive for the weather. Make sure all of your vehicle’s windows are clear, reduce your speed according to the road conditions and visibility, and be alert for other vehicles so that you are able to respond quickly and safely if required.
