Weyburn RCMP ask residents to again search for signs of Frances Gazeley

As snow packs melt and fields dry out, RCMP are hoping people will resume looking for any signs of the 77-year-old missing woman

WEYBURN – The Weyburn RCMP are encouraging residents in the Weyburn, Ceylon, Minton, Bengough and Colgate areas to once again check their properties for signs of Frances Gazeley.

With spring weather forecasted and remaining snow melting, we encourage the public to check any fields and outbuildings on their property that are inaccessible during winter for signs of Frances and/or any clothing that wouldn’t normally be there.

Frances was known to wear a purple or blue-coloured winter coat and short black boots.

The last time someone spoke to 77-year-old Frances was December 7, 2021. Multiple searches took place around the time she was reported missing and Frances has not been located.

People are asked to keep an eye out and report any signs of Frances and/or any clothing or other items that seem out of place or normally wouldn't be there. Please report any related findings to Weyburn Police Service by calling 306-848-3250 or call your nearest RCMP Detachment.

"We want to thank members of the public for checking their property in these areas for signs of Frances," said Insp. Josh Graham, Senior Investigative Officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit. "No one has spoken with her since December 7 and as the last known place she was seen was in the Weyburn area, we are focusing search efforts in nearby locations. The area can be vast and open in some places so we are renewing our call to the public to please report anything out of the ordinary in the areas they frequent."

RCMP Major Crime Unit investigators completed several searches in these rural areas in December and January with the assistance of and ongoing collaboration with Weyburn Police Service, surrounding Saskatchewan RCMP Detachments and Civil Air Search and Rescue Association. Police are also renewing calls for anyone with trail or security cameras to please check them.
