Weyburn received high marks for its participation in the national edition of Communities in Bloom. The awards ceremony was held in Halifax on October 30.
Weyburn participated in the 7,501 to 10,000 population category and received the highest rating, Five Blooms, for its local program. Weyburn also received special mention for its newest program, the Bloomin' School Program.
The Bloomin' School Program was established in Weyburn this year as a way to get local schools involved with environmental issues and to help them create gardens and green spaces at their facilities.
The City of Trail, British Columbia won the national contest in Weyburn's category.
