Weyburn Rotary Club donates to local organizations

Donations were provided to a total of nine local non-profit groups

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Rotary Club made a number of donations on Thursday to local non-profits and organizations as the club approaches its fiscal year-end.

The donations were provided by current club president Doug Loden, and incoming president Jill Thorn, who takes over her new duties as of July 7.

Loden presented a donation of $1,500 to Mal Barber of the Canadian Mental Health Association board, and $2,000 to the City of Weyburn’s school swim program.

He also presented a donation of $1,000 to Debbie Kater of the Weyburn Legion, and $1,000 to the Weyburn Group Homes Society.

A donation of $1,000 was provided to the Weyburn Salvation Army for their food bank. Community ministries coordinator Shannon Fodchuk said they are seeing an increase in the use of the food bank, with 10 new families coming every month on top of those who have already been using the bank.

Thorn made presentations of $1,000 each to the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop and to Envision Counselling, with donations to come this week to KidSport Weyburn and Inclusion Weyburn.
