WEYBURN – Larry Heggs, executive director of Weyburn Tourism, presented the proceeds of their sleigh ride-hotel stay auction to Shannon Fodchuk, community ministry worker for the Salvation Army, on Friday.

Weyburn Tourism auctioned off a horse-and-carriage ride through River Park Sparkles, an overnight stay at the Canalta Hotel and a $50 gift certificate for Boston Pizza, and raised a total of $355, donated towards the Salvation Army’s food bank.

The winning bid for the prize package came from Derrick Baer of Weyburn.

Fodchuk said the food bank gives out around 120-30 hampers a month, and will be giving out 200 hampers for families in need for Christmas.

She noted that the use of Weyburn’s food bank has gone up about 25 per cent in the last couple of months.
