Weyburn’s JAMS Christmas dinner cancelled due to COVID concerns

Concerns over COVID and Knox Hall renos lead to cancellation of dinner

The JAMS Family Christmas Day Dinner will not be held this year for the second year in a row.

Organizer Sandy Johnson said “with great sadness”, due to the COVID pandemic it was going to be difficult to hold such a large event without putting the attendees at risk. As a family they had contemplated holding two different sittings but realized that would be very difficult as well.

The decision was made easier when Johnson spoke to the representative from Knox Hall and was advised that they had decided to renovate the bathrooms and the building would not be ready in time for Christmas.

Johnson is hoping that people will take this opportunity to invite friends who are alone for Christmas over to their own homes for dinner or even deliver a meal to someone who is unable to get out.

She hopes that people will take the time to visit with friends and loved ones over the Holiday season as it can be a very lonely time.

The JAMS family is hopeful that after a two-year absence the family can host the JAMS Family Christmas Dinner next year. Johnson said her family wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and hopes to see their JAMS friends in 2022.
