Weyburn's Swing for Scholarships tournament raises $12,000 for SE College

Twelve teams registered for fundraiser tournament

The Weyburn Credit Union Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament took place on Friday at the Weyburn Golf Club. The 2021 Swing for Scholarships event raised roughly $12,000 in scholarship dollars for students pursuing a post-secondary education at Southeast College.

These dollars will be matched through the Ministry of Advanced Education through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program to create just over $24,000 in student scholarships.

Swing for Scholarships 2021 saw 12 teams participating with countless community supporters including presenting sponsor, Weyburn Credit Union; Drive for Education Sponsors, Prairie Sky Co-op and MNP; and hole sponsors, including South Country Equipment, Nexans, Weyburn Chamber, Western Financial, Mryglod Steel, Rona, New Age Electronics, Suretest Oilfield Services, Liquor Spot, T&C Family Restaurant, Sasktel, and Weyburn Oilwomen’s Association.

The door prize sponsors included Boston Pizza, Big Jim’s Brewing, Weimer’s Hometown, York Jewellers, Tanya Hulbert, South Country Equipment, Liquor Spot, T&C Family Restaurant, Southern Range Well Servicing, Fountain Tire, Peavey Mart, Canadian Tire, SaskEnergy, Bourassa, Fisk Repair and Rentals, Roots Salon, TS & M Supply, Wor-Kin Shop, Richardson Pioneer, Jerry Mainil, NSWB, Aldon Oils, and Crescent Point.

For the golf tournament results, the tournament low score was by Team Barber Motors, and the tournament’s most honest score was by Team Weyburn Credit Union.
