WEYBURN — Members of the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn presented a donation of $13,000 on Monday evening to Weyburn Minor Ball, to go towards fencing at their Clark Park ball diamond project.

This is the first half of the donation, with the balance to be given when the project is completed. Work has begun on the project, and the goal is to have it completed by the spring.

Weyburn city council gave conditional approval in September to Weyburn Minor Ball to do extensive development of diamond No. 4 at Clark Park, to ensure they have enough facilities to meet the needs of Minor Ball next year.

This diamond is for under-18 ball teams, as their membership keeps growing and they require the diamonds for their teams.

Some of the conditions of council’s approval included that Leisure Services, Planning and Development, Building and Engineering departments were to conduct a review of the proposal, local residents and businesses were to be contacted for any concerns, and Weyburn Minor Ball is to cover all costs associated with the development project.
