One bad hole taken by Graham DeLaet at the John Deere Classic ended up him being cut from the tournament. The former Weyburn resident was three-under-par after two rounds, short of one to make the four-under-par cut.

After playing solid rounds at the AT&T Classic, it was disappointing not to make the John Deere Classic, said DeLaet in a recent e-mail. I played pretty well other than one bad hole in the second round that ended up costing me the weekend. However, I am happy with how I am playing right now.In his first round, DeLaet started strong by securing an eagle on the second hole, then added three birdies and took two bogeys on the round to finish at 69, two-under-par.For the most part, DeLaet had kept strong in the second round, firing four birdies and one bogey. However, shooting seven on a par-four hole is what took his score to 70, one-under-par.Reflecting on the past couple of tournaments that he has competed in, DeLaet noted how the course at the AT&T Classic was different with Tiger Woods competing. Tournaments have a different feel when Tiger is in the field. I played in the group behind him at the Memorial Tournament. His crowds are very big and loud, but it doesn't change how any of us play our game. He is great for golf and it's good that he is back playing.Another reflection for Graham were his thoughts on the Crocus Men's Tournament, which celebrated its 40th year at the Weyburn Golf Course. The Crocus was always a fun tournament that I had looked forward to playing each year (when I lived in Weyburn). I am happy to have my name on the board inside the clubhouse as a champion of the event.Graham remains strong in driving distance on the Professional Golf Association Tour, but he noted that while driving distance is the strength of my game, it is probably one of the least important stats in golf. The next event on the PGA Tour for DeLaet is the Reno-Tahoe Open, which takes place in Reno, Nevada from July 15-18. On the PGA Tour FedExCup standings, DeLaet currently sits at 110th place. He needs to stay under 125th placing to secure his PGA card for another year. One accomplishment of note, in the official World Golf Rankings, DeLaet is placed 161th, which is a drastic improvement of his placing of 213 that he had last year, during competition in the Canadian Tour and Sunshine Tours. DeLaet is still ranked third best Canadian under Mike Weir and Stephen Ames.
