The Weyburn Beavers finally defeated the Regina Red Sox, but proceed to lose the games that followed the victory. Weyburn rallied from an early 6-2 deficit to beat Eastern Division-leading Regina 8-6 on June 25 - the Beavers first victory over the Red Sox in four attempts this year. Weyburn scored four times in the fourth inning to tie the game at 6-6, and they scored twice in the seventh to take the lead.Local product Jon Neuberger rattled off four singles in five at bats. He scored once and had two runs batted in. Erik Scott had three hits - all of them doubles - and had three runs batted in.Jesse Elam recovered from surrendering the six early runs to pick up his first win of the season. Elam had six strikeouts in more than eight innings of work. Regina recovered to beat Weyburn 16-5 in Regina on June 27. Regina scored seven times in the second inning to take a 10-1 lead, and the Red Sox were in cruise control from that point. The Beavers lost 8-3 in Yorkton against the Cardinals on June 28. Yorkton scored four times in the seventh inning to break open a 3-2 game. Kilby Perdomo led the Weyburn attack with two base hits and two runs batted in. Yorkton used the victory to move ahead of Weyburn for the third and final playoff spot in the Eastern Division.Weyburn had a double-header in Swift Current against the Indians on June 30, and they hosted the Moose Jaw Millers for a Canada Day double-header on July 1. (Results from those games were not available at press time). Weyburn will host the Indians for a double-header on July 2. Game times are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.The Beavers are in Melville on July 3, and then the Beavers hit the road for their annual Alberta road trip. Weyburn will visit Medicine Hat on July 5 and 6, and Edmonton on July 7 and 8.
