Amanda Wanner has been a big part of the team for years.

Amanda Wanner, right, is this year's Estevan Bruins community volunteer award winner.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Bruins saluted one of their long-time volunteers before the start of Friday night's home game against the Nipawin Hawks.

Amanda Wanner was awarded the SaskEnergy Volunteer Champion Award for her contributions to the club. Wanner has served as a billet parent, went on road trips to take pictures and videos and has done much more for the team. She was also the office administrator for the club for seven years, providing support to players and fans alike.

She remains a billet mom and a member of the team's executive.

Also before the game, the Bruins and SaskEnergy presented a cheque for $2,820 to the local KidSport committee. The money was raised from the 2021-22 Goals for KidSport campaign. KidSport receives money for each goal the Bruins score on home ice, and with the number of goals the Bruins scored en route to winning the 2021-22 SJHL championship, that meant a lot of goals.
