The Notre Dame Hounds scored three times in the second period to sink the Estevan Bruins 3-1 Saturday night in Wilcox.

Brandon Millin scored twice for the Hounds, with Dayton Shaw adding the third marker. One goal came on the power play, with the other two coming shortly after a man-advantage.

Austin Yano scored his first SJHL goal on a power play point shot seven minutes into the third period.

The defeat dropped the Bruins to 1-1, while Notre Dame improved to 3-2.

Bruins head coach Keith Cassidy was not impressed with his team's effort and cautioned that with the roster being full, every player has to earn his ice time.

"I saw some incredibly ridiculous things out there in terms of effort and that will be addressed," Cassidy said. "I mean, we've got the maximum number of players here. Anybody that thinks they can float their way onto this team, it's not happening."

Of the Bruins' 25 shots on goal, 16 came in the third period. Ty Reichenbach made 24 saves for the Hounds, while Derek Tendler stopped 18 of 21 shots for Estevan.

The Bruins will look for their second victory on Sunday when they visit the Yorkton Terriers.
