The Estevan Tower Wolves fell short in their quest to repeat as Saskota Baseball League champions this past weekend at the annual Harbourne Memorial Tournament.Undefeated through the round-robin, the Wolves met up with the surging Kenosee Cubs in the semifinal.Losers of just one of their last eight regular season games, the Cubs continued to roll against Estevan and came away with a 4-2 upset win.Dylan Lafrentz gave up two earned runs in six innings of pitching for the Wolves and Kenosee capitalized on a handful of fielding errors for its other two runs. Devin Aspinall knocked in the Wolves' only runs with a two-run home run.Estevan had finished first overall in the league with a 12-1-1 win-loss-tie record. Kenosee was third at 9-4-1.Earlier last week the Wolves were bounced from their provincial qualifier after dropping two straight games to the Carlyle Cardinals."The loss ended a strong season for the Wolves that will definitely be remembered more for its disappointing finish than its excellent beginning," said Aspinall. The Wolves opened the Harbourne tournament with a 16-0 win over the Carnduff Astros and followed up with a 9-1 win over the Lampman Pirates.Their final round-robin game was a 5-0 win over the Wawota Pats, who defeated the Wolves in the 2008 Harbourne final. The Cardinals went on to defeat Kenosee 11-2 in the tournament final.
