DeLaet cut at Wyndham, will play in PGA playoffs

After a successful first round at the Wyndham Championship, Graham DeLaet suffered a difficult second round and failed to make the cut. The former Weyburn resident will be entering the first round of the Professional Golf Association Tour playoffs on Aug. 26-29, as he qualified for The Barclays.Only the top 125 golfers in the FedExCup qualify for the playoffs, and DeLaet secured his position with his standing of 123. DeLaet will share the field with big names such as Stephen Ames, Rickie Fowler, Phil Michelson, Anthony Kim, Ryan Palmer, Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods.At the Wyndham Championship, DeLaet had a strong first round by shooting a 67, three-under-par. He had three birdies and 15 pars, with absolutely no bogies. It was the front nine where DeLaet shone during the first round, scoring birdies on hole five and hole eight.Starting on the front nine for round two, DeLaet stayed mostly on par, with two bogies and two birdies. He ran into bogey difficulty on the back nine, with a triple-bogey on hole 14, two more bogeys and only one birdie. DeLaet finished round two at 74, four-over-par.Now heading into the PGA playoffs, DeLaet ended the regular season of the PGA with total earnings of $589,240 for his rookie year. Added to previous career totals, his overall PGA amount earned is $603,112.
