Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins advance to the South Final

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins are off to the South Division final in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League for the second consecutive year.

The Bruins defeated the Swift Current Broncos 5-2 Wednesday night at Affinity Place in the fifth and deciding game of their South Division semifinal.

Spencer Copeland and Kobe Wotta scored less than five minutes apart in the first period to give Estevan a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Swift Current pulled to within one early in the second, but Jordan Marcotte scored on a power play less than a minute later. Copeland added his second of the game on another power play for a 4-1 lead.

The Broncos would get one back, but Carter Beck notched a power-play goal before the period was finished.

Swift Current rounded out the scoring with a marker late in the third.

Ty Fehrenbach made 17 saves for Estevan.

Estevan will now play the Regina Vics in the division final for the second straight year. The Vics won last year’s showdown in three straight.

The dates for this year’s showdown have not been set.
