The Estevan Bruins had lots of reasons to celebrate Saturday against Melville.

KINDERSLEY - The Estevan Bruins defeated the Kindersley Klippers 5-2 on Wednesday night in Kindersley to go 2-0 on their road trip through western Saskatchewan.  

Keagon Little had a goal and two assists for Estevan.

The Bruins led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Little and Alex Von Sprecken. Charles Obobaifo had the Klippers goal.

Mark Rumsey and Caelan Fitzpatrick scored for Estevan in the second to bump the lead to three.

Coletyn Boyarski’s goal with 3:07 to play pulled the Klippers to within two, but Cody Davis notched a short-handed goal into an empty net with 82 seconds left to finish the scoring.

The goals by Von Sprecken, Fitzpatrick and Davis all came in the final two minutes of a period.

Estevan dominated in the shots on goal, holding a 39-17 edge.

Cam Hrdlicka made 15 saves for the Bruins, while Matthew Pesenti came up with 34 for Kindersley.

The night before, the Bruins scored three times in the third period to beat the Battlefords North Stars 4-1.

The Bruins (9-3-0-1) next game will be Saturday in Melville against the Millionaires. Then they will host Melville Sunday at 3 p.m. at Affinity Place.
