Estevan Bruins complete opening weekend sweep of the Yorkton Terriers

The Estevan Bruins won both games of their season-opening home and home with the Yorkton Terriers.

YORKTON - For the second straight night, the Estevan Bruins came away with a close victory over the Yorkton Terriers.

Estevan’s line of Mark Rumsey, Brandon Ambrozik and Griffin Asham-Moroz combined for seven points in the Bruins’ 4-3 victory over the Terriers Saturday night in Yorkton.

The Bruins’ victory came in the Terriers home opener.

Maddux Nollski’s goal with 7:16 to play in the opening period gave the Terriers a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Asham-Moroz scored 11 seconds into the second period to tie the game, and Ambrozik scored with less than three minutes to play in the second to give the Bruins their first lead of the night.

Rumsey scored short-handed 55 seconds into the third period to double the Bruins’ advantage, but Clay Sleeva responded for Yorkton with a power play goal 30 seconds later.

Caelan Fitzpatrick’s power play goal 91 seconds after Sleeva’s tally restored the Bruins’ two-goal lead, and it remained a 4-2 game until late in the third, when Karsten Kruska scored.

Fitzpatrick and Kruska scored in both games this weekend.

Boston Bilous stopped 23 of the 26 shots he faced to get the win for the Bruins. Jacob Herman made 12 saves on 16 shots for Yorkton.
