Heading into their longest road swing of the season, the Eagle Drilling Estevan Bruins dropped their fifth straight game last night. The Kindersley Klippers got a two-goal performance from Braeden Adamyk in a 4-2 victory over the Bruins at the Civic Auditorium.
The Klippers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, and held a 3-0 advantage in the second before Tyler Spencer and Ben Findlay each scored to get Estevan within one.
That was as close as the Bruins would get however, as Adamyk's second of the night made it 4-2, and that was how it ended. Estevan pulled goalie Joel Danyluk late in the third in an attempt to get back in the game, but to no avail.
Up next for Estevan is a pair of games in Weyburn for the SJHL's 2010 Showcase. They'll face Melville on Friday at 2 p.m. and then Weyburn on Sunday night at 7:30.
With yesterday being the December 1 deadline where teams had to trim their roster to 25 players, the Bruins made a couple of moves.
First, they acquired 19-year-old defenceman Matt Szpak from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of AJHL for future considerations, then Estevan general manager Karry Biette was able to swing a deal within the SJHL, sending prospect Mason Logan, a 1995-born defenceman to Melfort for 20-year-old forward Cole Gibson.
The 5'11" Szpak had no goals and four assists to go along with 27 penalty minutes in 28 games with the Oil Barons so far this year. Gibson, a 5'10" left winger from Edmonton had eight goals, 12 assists and four penalty minutes in 20 games with Melfort.
