ESTEVAN - Four well-known people in the southeast hockey community will be guiding the Estevan Minor Hockey Association’s AA teams next season.

The EMHA announced Thursday that Jevon Desautels (U11 Tier 1 Bruins), Brant Kersey (U13 AA Bruins), Keith Cassidy (U15 AA Bruins) and Aren Miller (U18 AA Bruins) would guide those respective teams for the 2023-24 campaign.

Desautels, who hails from Alida, was selected in the fourth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. This past season, he coached house league hockey teams in Estevan.

Kersey was a member of the Estevan Bruins’ team that won the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League title in 1999. He was the coach of the Estevan U13 A Bruins team that made it to the provincial final in 2023. That club was comprised of house league players from the Estevan Minor Hockey Association.

Cassidy, who has a variety of experiences as a player and a coach, is back for his second year as the head coach of the U15 AA Bruins. He was also the junior Bruins coach from 2011-2013, and guided the Selkirk Steelers to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League championship in 2007.

Miller has been a fixture in local hockey circles for decades. He hails from Oxbow and was a third-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in the 1996 NHL draft. He has coached many teams over the years, including an assistant coach/goalie coach for the Estevan Bruins since 2013, and an assistant coach with the U18 AA Bruins this past season as they reached the provincial final.
