Estevan reaches A final at U11 home tournament

The Estevan U11 Gold Bruins made it to the A final of their home tournament.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan U11 Gold Bruins team reached the final of their home tournament on the weekend.

Six teams entered the tournament. The Southeast Kraken – comprised of athletes from several communities in the southeast corner of the province – joined Estevan for the competition, as did the Southeast ARMY – which boasted players from Avonlea, Radville, Midale and Yellow Grass.

Entries from Moose Jaw, Regina and Yorkton also entered.

The Bruins opened the tournament with an 11-1 win over the Kraken, and then they defeated the Yorkton Terriers 8-3 to finish the round robin with a 2-0 record.

Estevan trounced the ARMY 9-1 in the semifinal to punch their ticket for the final.

The Moose Jaw Warriors knocked off the Bruins 6-2 in the A final.

The Regina Mustangs beat the ARMY 11-2 in the bronze medal game and Yorkton edged the Kraken 4-3 in the fifth place game.

Players from Estevan's U11 house league teams are part of the U11 Bruins.
