Well, Wade Bell's 10 & under Carlyle team was in Estevan this past weekend for the Atom tourney. It was a bright and early start. The team was on the ice for an 8 o'clock game Saturday morning against the Weyburn Blues. We were down 3-1 after the first.

Ethan Anderson scored the opening goal of the tournament for our Carlyle team. Jarred Valentine scored in the second but Weyburn also tallied another three goals. Carlyle finally succeeded in "tying a period" with goals in the third by Judah Wardrope and Dawson Brown to answer two more goals by Weyburn. The damage was really done by two of the Weyburn players who accounted for six of Weyburn's eight goals! The final score was 8-4, but the team played much better in the third period which gave us all hope for the second game later that morning. The second was against a team from Regina, the Regina Sabres, and what a game it was! Carlyle was up 2-1 after the first thanks to goals by Jared Valentine and Zach Faber. Regina put a big push on in the second to tie the game. Delan Robertson was playing great in the Carlyle net and Dawson Brown scored for Carlyle, but Regina also managed to put in two goals in the second. Judah Wardrope opened the scoring in the third period to put Carlyle ahead by one, but with just over six minutes left in the game #7 for Regina scored his third goal of the game. The action at both ends was frantic, but regulation time decided nothing and the third period ended in a 4-4 tie. The overtime period was played three on three and was up and down action. Fans from both teams and fans from the game that was starting next were all yelling and cheering the action on. The action drew in other bystanders and soon quite a large crowd was on hand. Unfortunately, Regina ended the game in overtime with a goal on a goalmouth scramble, but both coaches and parents were so proud of our players' efforts. Sunday's game at noon was a disappointing 8-2 loss to a team from Radville with Dawson Brown scoring both goals for Carlyle. The game was unusual in the number of penalties that were called and the play was choppy at times, but our Carlyle team played a strong third period and were able to finish with some positive energy. As in the Weyburn game, it was two players from the Radville team doing most of the damage and scoring six of the eight Radville goals.
