Estevan U18 AA Bruins fall in Game 1 of provincial final; Game 2 Sunday in Estevan

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins dropped a 3-2 decision to the host Saskatoon Riverkings Friday night in Game 1 of the Hockey Saskatchewan provincial final.

The series is a best-of-three matchup.

Saskatoon opened the scoring midway through the first period, but Carter Beck scored for Estevan a little more than two minutes later to tie the game.

Spencer Copeland’s goal midway through the second put Estevan up by one, but the Riverkings tied the game just over two minutes later.

The Riverkings scored the winner early in the third.

Ty Fehrenbach made 27 saves for Estevan.

Game 2 will be played Sunday night at Affinity Place in Estevan at 7:45 p.m. Game 3 would be the following night in Estevan at 7 p.m.

The series is also the final for the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League.
