MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - The Medicine Hat College Rattlers' women's hockey team will have an Estevan connection when they take to the ice for the 2023-24 season.

The Rattlers announced the signing of defenceman Jacey Farr for the upcoming season. Farr hails from Estevan and had finished off her minor hockey career playing for the Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings of the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League.

"Jacey is a strong defender who has a strong desire to compete at the highest level," said head coach Chad Baron. "She can move the puck up ice effectively with an adept hockey sense that allows her to make the right reads in various situations.

"Despite her young age, she has plenty of experience playing elite-level hockey, having been called up to play as an underaged player for her former U18AAA team. She has the skills needed to be a successful defender who can contribute to the offensive attack, coupled with the vision to read the play, and recover her defensive positioning quickly.

"Jacey is a strong skater who will help bolster a driven and talented defensive group who take pride in defending their zone and contributing on offense when the opportunities arise.

"With her ability to win battles and the vision to make the correct reads, we know Jacey will be another contributor to the success of the team in our very first season."

The Rattlers said she would be be taking general studies and working towards an education degree.
