Update: Estevan Bruins shut out La Ronge on Teddy Bear Toss Night

Forrest scored late in the first period, and then the bears went flying out onto the ice.

ESTEVAN - The annual Teddy Bear Toss Night was a great one for the Estevan Bruins.

Estevan shut out the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-0 Wednesday at Affinity Place. Evan Forrest opened the scoring for the Bruins with 2:24 to play in the first period. And since it was Teddy Bear Toss Night, fans littered the ice with bears and other stuffed animals after Forrest's goal.

The game was delayed for several minutes while players and volunteers gathered up all of the bears and stuffed them in bags to be taken to the Salvation Army. The bears will be handed out to people in the community.

Kade Runke scored a power-play goal with 5:44 to play in the second period to add to the Bruins' lead.

Owen Barrow's goal in the third period gave the Bruins some breathing room, and Runke finished the scoring with an empty-net goal with a few minutes remaining.

Cam Hrdlicka made 24 saves to get his fourth shutout of the season.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at Affinity Place, starting at 7 p.m.
