First-ever Walleye Classic to be hosted by Weyburn Wildlife Federation on June 4

WEYBURN - The Weyburn Wildlife Federation is taking registrations for their first-ever Walleye Classic to be held on Saturday, June 4 at Mainprize Park on the Rafferty Dam.

This is a one-day family-friendly tournament. The cost to enter the Walleye Classic is $150 per team for a two or three-person team. The third angler must be 15 and under.

Entrants are asked to attend the rules meeting on Friday night and then Saturday is the day to get out on the water and fish and catch the big one.

There will be a barbecue on Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with the rules meeting at 7. There will also be raffles and a 50/50 draw.

The boats and teams will launch on Saturday starting at 8 a.m., with the first heat going until 3 p.m., and the second heat to start at 9 a.m. going to 4 p.m.

Weigh-ins will be from 3 to 5 p.m., then supper at Pederson Place will start at 5 p.m. Winners will be announced at 7 p.m.

The supper costs $30 for adults and $25 for youth, and those wishing to have supper must be registered before May 30.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first to fourth places, and will be two-thirds of the funds collected for registration.
