Bruins goal against the Hounds 2022
The Estevan Bruins are up 3-1 in their best of seven series with the Notre Dame Hounds.

WILCOX - The Estevan Bruins are one win away from advancing to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s semifinal round.

Caelan Fitzpatrick scored 5:01 into overtime to lift the Black and Gold to a 3-2 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds Thursday night in Wilcox. Estevan leads the best of seven series 3-1.

The winning goal came seconds after a faceoff in the Hounds' zone. Notre Dame actually won the draw, but there was a turnover behind the Notre Dame net, and after a couple of chances, Fitzpatrick potted the winner.

Notre Dame’s Nolen Coventry opened the scoring with about seven minutes to play in the first period. Nolan Jones’ power-play goal four minutes later tied the game.

The score remained tied until late in the second, when Kian Calder scored with 2:10 to play.

Notre Dame’s Kevin Anderson scored 3:43 into the third to knot the game up once again.

Eric Pearce appeared to give the Bruins a lead late in the third period, but the goal was disallowed because the officials said the net was dislodged before the puck entered.

Boston Bilous made 28 saves on 30 shots for the Bruins. The Hounds’ Austin Elliott stopped 40 of the 43 shots he faced.

Estevan will have a chance to clinch the series Saturday night on home ice. The game will start at 7 p.m.
