Former Weyburnite heads to Brier

Former resident of Weyburn, Brennen Jones, will be competing in the upcoming Tim Horton's Brier being held in London, Ontario from March 5 to 13.

Former resident of Weyburn, Brennen Jones, will be competing in the upcoming Tim Horton's Brier being held in London, Ontario from March 5 to 13. Jones graduated from the Weyburn Comprehensive School in 2005 and is the son of Deanne Miller-Jones and Dennis Jones.

Jones was part of the Provincial Junior Championship teams in 2006 and 2008, was a third for Mitch Heidt and skipped his own team for one year before joining the Pat Simmons Rink for the 2010-2011 World Tour season. Jones is a second on the Pat Simmons Rink, along with skip Pat Simmons, third Steve Laycock, lead Dallan Muyres and coach Lyle Muyres. The Pat Simmons rink recently won the SaskTel Tankard and has earned $38,300 so far this season.

In preparation for the Brier, the Pat Simmons Rink will compete in bonspiels and will head to Edmonton to practice at the National Training Centre.
