Local water polo members at nationals

Four members of the Weyburn Hurricanes water polo team - Jenna Haupstein, Kelsey Jensen, Taylor Molde and Callahan Huebner - recently played for Team Saskatchewan at the Cadet Under-16 Water Polo Nationals in Surrey, B.C., from May 21 to 24.

Four members of the Weyburn Hurricanes water polo team - Jenna Haupstein, Kelsey Jensen, Taylor Molde and Callahan Huebner - recently played for Team Saskatchewan at the Cadet Under-16 Water Polo Nationals in Surrey, B.C., from May 21 to 24. Team Saskatchewan went undefeated in round robin play. In the opener against the Calgary Renegades, Molde scored twice and Haupstein added a goal in a 14-2 victory. Saskatchewan beat Montreal DDO 4-3 in their second game. Jensen was named the game's first star for her play in goal, and Molde was named the game's second star. She scored against Montreal. Team Saskatchewan defeated the Vancouver Pacific Storm 11-0 in the quarter-final. Molde was named the first star with two goals. Huebner also scored twice. Haupstein had a goal. Jensen recorded the shutout in net. Saskatchewan dropped their final two games: 7-5 in the semi-final to Montreal CAMO and 13-3 to the host Fraser Valley team in the bronze medal game. Molde scored once in the bronze medal game.Saskatchewan's fourth place finish is their best-ever at nationals.
