COLD+HOCKEY=WINTER

On Friday Nov.19th, the Novice Cougars headed to Kipling for the 1st game in a double header weekend. Now that it's cold out it feels like hockey season, and we're hoping the coaches can get the boys fired up in the room. Leading his team out, goalie for the game #1 Davien Slykhuis, the Cougars had a great 1st period and Davien stopped a lot of rubber and played a good solid game in the crease. Even with our fast skating, great back checking and 2 goals from #2 Tyler Colpitts and #3 Logan Young, it wasn't quite enough we were down 4-2 at the end of the 1st. Coming out to start the 2nd the boys looked solid and the fans were hopeful, they were skating hard and trying to protect their zone, we even took a hooking penalty. At the end of the 2nd the boys were a little slow and tired, looks like the boys were going to need a little pep talk and some energy to finish this game strong. The way those kids came on the ice to start the 3rd those coaches must have gave one heck of a pep talk or put Redbull in the water bottles, because those boys came out skating! #2 scored for us one more time and all our players skated hard and protected our goalie very well. Even though it was hard to score on their net, it's not to say our team didn't have quite a few shots on net, we did, good job, and keep shooting! With the final being 8-3 for Kipling, with that said I'm told it was a good hard fought game, with good plays, lots of hustle and digging. Good job out there boys, tough loss but you'll get em next time!

ROUGH & TUMBLE WITH THE DEVILS

On Saturday Nov.20th we hit the pavement again and headed to Carnduff to play the Devils. Jamming out to tunes while you get your gear on, and hanging out with your buddies in the locker room goofing off having fun. That's what being part of team is all about. Then hitting the ice and playing a sport you enjoy what could be better, oh yeah, being a kid!

Leading the cougars on the ice today #6 Coty Hofos, this kid was fearless in net, he had a few times when he was 1 on 1 with some pretty big players and he faced them all, with some great saves good job Coty. The Cougars are still working on some of their "D", but like the Riders they pull off some pretty sweet moves and get some awesome passes and score phenomenal goals, sometimes it's just not enough to win the game. Speaking of goals, #13 Hayden, #10 Brody, #16 Adrien, #2 Tyler and #12 Cade all scored in this game, great shooting boys. They would come up a little short with the final being 16-6 but every goal gets you a little closer. You know these kids and coaches put a lot of time and effort in at practices and games and all we can do is cheer them on win or lose, they're all trying their very best, and that's what matters most. So make sure you acknowledge the efforts of your coaches and all the players because without everybody working together you wouldn't have a team. Keep up the good work, and we'll see you at the rink.
