LAS VEGAS - There will be an Estevan connection in this year’s Stanley Cup final.

Estevan’s Brayden Pachal is a defenceman on the roster for the Vegas Golden Knights. The Knights defeated the Dallas Stars 6-0 Monday night in Dallas to win the Western Conference Final in six games.

The Golden Knights will now play the Florida Panthers for the Stanley Cup.

Pachal was called up by Vegas from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights, before the start of the playoffs. He has played in one game in the playoffs, in the first round against the Winnipeg Jets.

Pachal also appeared in 10 games in the regular season for Vegas, registering two points, including his first point in the NHL.

Pachal is from Estevan originally, and played his minor hockey in the Energy City until he reached the U18 level. He captained the Prince Albert Raiders to the Western Hockey League championship in 2019.
