The Saskatchewan Hockey Association, Wascana Centre and Regina Men's Hockey Cougar Alumni will be hosting the second annual Prairie Pond Hockey Challenge. The event will be taking place on Saturday, February 11 on Wascana Lake.

There is a 60 team limit for the 4-on-4 event; each team is allowed to have 4-6 players on their roster for the Prairie Pond Hockey Challenge. Teams can register an all men's, all women's or a mixed team. Players must be 19 years of age or older. The cost to register a team is $450 with the deadline on February 8.

Players are required to wear skates, helmet, gloves and stick. No goalie will be used as the nets are not regulation size (smaller nets are used to keep the puck in play). Teams are tasked with resolving differences by honouring the traditions of sportsmanship and fair play.

This year the Prairie Pond Hockey Challenge will take place on 18 rinks on beautiful Wascana Lake. All of the games take place on one day, with the finals and the championship game being played at night under the lights.

Teams are encouraged to bring their families to the event, as there will be an open ice surface for public skating. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase throughout the day.
