Redvers Rockets seize the lead in Big Six final

Redvers used a quick-strike offence in the second and third periods to double up Moosomin.

REDVERS - The Redvers Rockets scored three times late in the second period in a 6-3 victory over the Moosomin Rangers Friday night in Game 1 of the best-of-five Big Six Hockey League final.

Moosomin had a 2-1 lead with less than six minutes to play in the second period. But then Kenton Miller, Presten Kopeck and Todd Gervais scored in a 3:09 span of the second period to put Redvers ahead by two after 40 minutes.

Kopeck and Brady Gaudet added goals 42 seconds apart in the third for a 6-2 advantage.

Remy Lamotte had Redvers’ other goal.

Carter Sawchuk had two goals for Moosomin and Monty Driver also scored.

Cody Matthewson was in goal for Redvers, while Levi Horn was the Rangers’ goalie.

Game 2 will be Sunday in Moosomin at 7 p.m.
