ASSINIBOIA - Curling season at the Assiniboia Curling Club is officially under way.

They are rolling in our regular draw activity and preparations for this year’s Provincial Scotties are ticking along.

Again, all activity and entrance to ACC requires full COVID vaccination.

The Monday Night Travelling League is down to six teams mostly from local sources as COVID has made it difficult for outside teams to travel.

Regular draws occur every Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Team names playing this year include Batty, Eldstrom, Coghill, Mountain, Hanstock, and Lucas. Come on down to the Assiniboia Rink and enjoy some first class curling.

The Monday and Afternoon Leagues are in full operation.  Numbers are approximately the same as last season.  Interested curlers just need to show up at 1:30 p.m., and they will  fit you in. It’s designed for fun and socialization so skill is not a prerequisite.

The Tuesday Night Recreational Fun night showed no interest.  If there are families who would  like the opportunity to come out once a month, please phone the office to indicate interest  and they will set something up on a “once a month” basis.

The Thursday Night League features 14 rinks this winter and has a new sponsor, Richardson Pioneer.  There are two draws at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Interested curlers who would like to spare, please call the office and leave contact info.

As for the Scotties, the Assiniboia Curling Club continues to prepare. The 12 rinks participating won’t be known until December.

All upstairs window seating and tables are sold out there is plenty of downstairs and ice surface area seating available along with standing room in lounge.

They continue to look for volunteers so if interested call and leave us your name.  Scotties event passes are available at Nelson GM and at the Assiniboia Curling Club office for $80.

Until next month, enjoy the local action and the Pre-Olympic trials to determine Canada’s reps.
