Rock Talk: curling season gearing down as playoffs begin

ASSINIBOIA - As the curling season at the Assiniboia Curling Club gears down to the home stretch, and league playoffs begin, appreciation is sent to the many sponsors for their continued support over the season. You make it all possible for us to exist.

Appreciation goes to Nicole and Travis Eldstrom and their helpers for spearheading the Grade 2 to 4 Junior Curling instructional programs. The Assiniboia Curling Club has 20 youngsters working on their future skills. This winds up on March 12th.  Southland Co-op was the sponsor for the program.

Both the Monday Night Travelling League and the Thursday Night Rec League are in playoff format. Both will have championship tags filled before the month is out.

The Ladies Spiel is presently taking entries in preparation for the year-end bonspiel on March 17 and 18. This year’s theme is “Fiesta Fun”. Curlers are encouraged to get a rink together and join in the action. Call Bill at 306-640-9655 to enter. Entry fee is $200 and includes supper.

The last event of the season will be the Men’s annual bonspiel, which will run from March 24 to 26.  This generally brings in a great turnout so curlers are encouraged to get their rink entered Entry fee is $240 and it includes a meal as well. To enter, phone Bill at 306-640-9655.
