Sr. Rebels have lead in the playoffs

The Senior Rebels downed Mossbank 3-1 in game three at the Assiniboia Civic Centre on March 10. The game was sponsored by E. Bourassa and Sons. The Rebels built up their lead in the first period. Mike Arnold opened the scoring for the Rebels and added another before the end of the first period. Mitch Hollick took a pass from Zach Evans halfway through the first period and put it behind the goal pads of Blades’ Miguel Marit.
Although down by three goals, Mossbank made a determined effort to get back into the game. Carson Kowalski scored one for the Blades early in the third period but it wasn’t enough to make a comeback. Both teams were evenly matched.
Game four moved to the Mossbank Rink on March 11, where the Assiniboia Senior Rebels won by a convincing 5-1 score.
The Rebels opened the scoring with two goals in the first period and one in the second. They added two more in the third for assurance. Al Sinclair, Zach Evans, Mitch Hollick, Derek Lessmeister and Mike Arnold all scored for the Senior Rebels. Reid Howe put Mossbank on the board three minutes into the third period for the Blades’ lone goal.
Despite being on home ice, the Blades were unable to capitalize on fans support or their six power play chances to make any points. Fans from both Assiniboia and Mossbank have made trips to both towns to fill the stands for the playoff finals. Cowbells and cheering were heard at both games. The two teams meet again on Friday, March 17 for game five in Mossbank, and if needed, game six goes in Assiniboia on Saturday, March 18.
