Stoughton to host the junior mens curling championships

The Stoughton Curling Club will host the 2011-12 junior mens curling championships from Jan. 5 to 9. A total of 12 teams will compete at this event, after qualifying from either the northern playdowns, the southern playdowns or qualifying spiels.

A total of 12 teams will compete at this event, after qualifying from either the northern playdowns, the southern playdowns or qualifying spiels.
From Weyburn, the Travis Tokarz rink will compete, including third Kyle Cherpin, second Drew Moffat, and lead Zac Fradette. There is also a Weyburn curler competing with the Regina Tartan rink, as Justin Sidloski is their lead. Other players include skip Jake Ripplinger, third Gregory Shiplack and second Matthew De Gooijer.

Practice time and the first draws start on Thursday, Jan. 5. Opening ceremonies will take place at 6:30 p.m. The Tokarz and Ripplinger rinks will face each other first thing on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
Round robin draws continue throughout Jan. 6 to 8, with the page games and tiebreakers on Sunday, Jan. 8 and all final matches on Monday, Jan. 9.

During the same weekend, the Moose Jaw Curling Club will host the 2011-12 junior women's curling championships.
A total of 12 teams will also compete at this event, after qualifying from either the northern playdowns, the southern playdowns or Q-spiels.
From Weyburn, the Ashley Skjerdal rink will be competing, including third Jordan Maas, second Jeanae Nixon and lead Shelby Bendtsen.
