Canadian Wrestling’s Elite brought its wrestling show to Assiniboia for the first time on August 13. Danny Duggan, promoter and performer, promised a well-rounded program and the CWE delivered with special guests, hall-of-famers and international pro wrestlers. The evening flew by as each match drew in the audience to cheer on defending champions against the stage villains.
There were six matches featuring a host of characters and different styles. The opening match set the tone for action and excitement. CWE Tag Team champions Shane Sabre and Phil Atlas were pitched against the athletic Kute Kody and Tasty Travis to defend their title. But their smarts on the mat helped them to retain their belt. The Canadian Unified Jr. Heavyweight champion match saw title-holder “Tornado” Tony Kozina take on “The American Octopus” Jonathan Gresham. This was a classic match with lots of movement, but the Tornado emerged victorious. In the women’s match, it appeared that “The Last Pure Athlete” Jordynne Grace would come out on top, but “The Gatekeeper” Kelly Klein won the hearts of fans as well as the match with a comeback in the last half.
