TS&M U15 AA Bruins win two of three on the weekend

The Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins won twice on the weekend.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins won two of the three games they played on the weekend.

The busy slate started with a 7-2 loss to the Yorkton Terriers on Friday, but Estevan recovered with back to back 6-3 victories over the Melville Millionaires, winning Saturday at Affinity Place in Estevan and Sunday in Melville.

Payton Phillips and Carter Hirsch had the goals for Estevan against Yorkton.

Jaxon Kuchinka stopped 26 of the 33 shots he faced.

Estevan scored four times in the second period to break open a 1-1 game against Melville on Saturday. Hayden Terrett and Gunner Moore each scored twice for the U15 Bruins. Ryder Miller and Blake Andrist also scored for Estevan.

Moore added two assists to finish with a four-point game, and Axton Martin had three helpers.

Chase Borreson made nine saves for Estevan, who outshot Melville 36-12.

Estevan scored three times in the third in Sunday’s win over Melville. Keagan Patton, Cowan Ludkte, Carter Hirsch, Moore, Miller and Terrett scored for the Bruins.

Kuchinka made 35 saves in the victory.

Estevan (3-18) will visit the Prairie Storm on Jan. 15 in Balgonie and the Regina Aces the following day.

The Estevan Meter U13 AA Bruins returned to the ice following the Christmas break with a 7-4 win over the Melville Millionaires on Saturday at Affinity Place.

Estevan scored four unanswered goals in a nine-minute span of the third period to take over a 3-3 game. Nathan Gardiner had two of those goals. Broden Henry and Boston Tait also scored in the third.

Tait had two goals earlier in the game. Cameron Milbrandt also scored.

Gardiner and Henry had three assists each.

Easton Pushie made 16 saves for the win.

Estevan (11-3) will visit the Moose Jaw Warriors on Jan. 12 and Melville on Jan. 16.

The Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins were supposed to face the Notre Dame Argos on Friday night, but that game was postponed. Their next scheduled game is Jan. 10 against the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.

Estevan (21-3-1) has had one game since Christmas, a 9-5 win over the Regina Rangers on Jan. 2. The U18 AA Bruins took over in the second period with five goals, four of them coming in the opening 5:05 of the frame.

Kaden Chrest (two goals and an assist) and James Mann (a goal and four assists) paced the Estevan attack. Spencer Copeland, Emmett McCarthy, Mason Fichter, Kade Phillips, Boden Dukart and Landon Kaban also scored.

Ty Fehrenbach made 43 saves in the victory.
