The Estevan Bruins and the Flin Flon Bombers are meeting in Game 2 of the SJHL final.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Bruins have taken a 2-0 series lead in the SJHL final.

Olivier Pouliot scored twice and Boston Bilous made 26 saves in the Bruins' 2-0 victory Saturday night over the Flin Flon Bombers in Game 2 of the best-of-seven showdown.

After a scoreless first period, Olivier Pouliot's shot from the point found a way through to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Neither team has been able to score since then despite some quality chances.

Flin Flon's best opportunity to score came midway through the third, but Bilous stopped Flin Flon's Jacob Vockler on a breakaway when it was still a 1-0 game.

Then the Bruins had an opportunity to add to the lead with a two-man advantage for 1:19, but couldn't convert.

Pouliot gave the Bruins some insurance with an empty-net goal with 25 seconds to play.

Cal Schell made 28 saves for Flin Flon.

The game was twice delayed by power failures.

The power went out at Affinity Place, and elsewhere in the community, just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday night, when the teams were still on the ice for pre-game warm-ups.

At the time, the Bruins said SaskPower officials told them the power would be back on within 30 minutes, but if it wasn't restored by 8 p.m., the game would be delayed until Sunday afternoon.

The power came back on at 7:13 p.m., to a rousing ovation from both Bruins fans and Bombers fans alike. The fans cheered again when the Bruins thanked the SaskPower crews who worked tirelessly to get the lights back on so the game could proceed.

Teams returned to the ice to finish their warm-ups, and the game started at 8 p.m.

Then, with less than a minute to play in the first period, another power outage struck, further delaying the game.

The power came back on at 9 p.m. Teams finished the remaining 45 seconds of the first period, and then played the second period after a brief break. If there would have been another outage, the rest of the game would have been played Sunday.

Game 3 will be played Tuesday night in Flin Flon.

SASKTODAY.ca will have updates from the game.
