Shortly after the Boston Bruins ended a long drought on Wednesday night, the same thing was happening at Estevan Motor Speedway.

Bienfait's Tyler Wagner, a regular at the track since Day 1, earned his first career victory in the mod feature during the Speedway's third race night of the year.

"It's a sweet thing. It took 10 years to finally get it and it feels really good," he said after the race.

Wagner, who started the race in 15th position, had finished third the previous week and used the same strategy to win.

"It's just a matter of picking and choosing, waiting for the accidents to get over with and just getting to the front."

In a race chock-full of cautions, Wagner took the lead late after several other drivers had taken turns in front earlier.

Jim Harris took the early lead. Later on, a battle for first between Mike Hagen and Joren Boyce took centre stage, but contact between the two on Turn 1 resulted in Boyce losing ground and Hagen being sent to the back.

"The last two cautions, I just said to myself, 'I just gotta hold the bottom and take it easy,'" said Wagner.

Joe Galloway placed second and Harris was third.

Exactly half of the 22 drivers finished the race.

Devin Raynard, who finished fourth, continues to lead the point standings with 116 points, four ahead of Wagner. Galloway is a distant third.

After being in contention for the first two race cards, Minot's Robby Rosselli earned victory in the street feature Wednesday.

The race was wide open, with Geoff Mann, Gregg Mann, Rosselli and Rocky Alexander all leading at different points in the race.

For a while, there was a three-way battle involving Rosselli, Alexander and Gregg Mann, with Alexander emerging and building a significant lead.

Then a caution came, and Rosselli would leapfrog Alexander soon after.

The street point standings are tight at the top, with Alexander's 115 points leading Joe Flory by one point and Rosselli by two.

Bienfait's Jim Mann was victorious in the hobby stock feature, finishing ahead of Dustin Byler and Tyler Thompson.

Justin Medler, who won the first two hobby features of the year, failed to finish the race.

Gary Goudy of Stoughton now leads the hobby standings with 111 points, one ahead of Medler and three ahead of Thompson.

The next race card at the Speedway takes place June 29 with a regular race night. Start time is 7:30 p.m.
