WCS Eagles junior boys win home tournament

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Comp Eagles junior boys and girls A basketball teams at WCS hosted a tournament this weekend.

Teams came from Foam Lake, Stoughton and St. Michael on the boys side and on the girls side there was Foam Lake, St. Michael and Indian Head.

Both Eagles teams had success Friday night, with the boys offense flying for a victory over Stoughton 65-37 and the girls defeating St. Mikes 34-12.

On Saturday morning the boys played stellar defense to shut down St. Michael for a 49-24 victory.

They then defeated Foam Lake 42-35 that afternoon to seal the tournament championship.

The girls struggled Saturday to break full court presses, losing to Foam Lake 40-26 and the tournament champions Indian Head.

Both teams travel to Foam Lake this upcoming weekend for a tournament, and then they are back home hosting another combined tournament on the Feb. 10-11 weekend.

No other WCS teams played this weekend due to final exams at the Comp. Coming up this weekend, the Eagles senior boys are going to Estevan, the senior girls will be going to North Battleford, and the intermediate boys will be playing in Moose Jaw.
