WEYBURN – Sheena Aitken was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame on September 24 as a member of the 2000-01 the University of Regina Cougars Women's Basketball Team, which was a national championship team.

"It was an honour to be recognized with other athletes who had won Olympic medals and set world records in their respective sport and I couldn't help but feel incredibly grateful for the tremendous leadership I received over the years,” she said, paying tribute to one of her coaches at the Weyburn Comp School.

“Len Williams stands out as the coach who inspired me the most and taught me to believe in myself. What I learned through sports growing up has served me so well in life,” she said. “I would encourage young athletes to dream big and go all in.”

Sheena graduated from the Weyburn Comp in 2000. She currently works environmental consulting in the oil and gas industry and resides on a farm west of Weyburn with her two children.
