Weyburn Comp Eagles teams busy with weekend action

Soccer, football and volleyball teams have all begun the new season with games

WEYBURN – Sports teams at the Weyburn Comprehensive School are busy with their new seasons, including football, volleyball and soccer, with a number of teams playing over the weekend.

The Senior Boys hosted their first home tournament over the weekend. The boys posted a 7-2 record in the round-robin, and beat Fox Valley in two sets in the semi-final.

In the finals against the Estevan Elecs, they lost two close sets, by scores of 25-22 and 28-26, and took home second place.

The Senior A Girls had a record of 5-2 to finish fifth in the B Side of the U of R Tournament over the weekend in Regina. Next weekend the Eagles will be in Regina for Mega Volley.

The senior girls soccer team travelled to Moose Jaw for their first league games.

They played Yorkton Sacred Heart and Yorkton Regional on Saturday. The girls finished 0-2 for the day but saw some positive aspects with game play and scored three goals in their second match.
