Weyburn Comp runner wins provincial gold medal

A team of cross-country runners from the Weyburn Comp took part in the SHSAA cross-country provincials on Saturday, and one member came home with a gold medal.

WEYBURN – A team of cross-country runners from the Weyburn Comprehensive School took part in the SHSAA cross-country provincials in Regina on Saturday, and one member came home with a gold medal.

“We had an awesome showing this year at Cross Country provincials. All athletes ran personal bests, and Camden Husband came home with Gold in his category,” said Kristy Gall, team coach.

In Intermediate Boys, with a field of 108 runners, Camden Husband came in first with a time of 10:29. For the Intermediate Girls, with 93 runners, Rylie Gervais placed 13th with a time of 12:41.

For Junior Girls, with 80 runners taking part, Jyllian Payak placed 41st with a time of 18:29. For Junior Boys, with 106 runners in the field, Lucas Zieglgansberger finished in 68th place, with a time of 16:49.

For Senior Girls, with 85 runners taking part, Autumn Vilcu placed 28th, with a time of 16:58.

In the Senior Boys event with 107 runners, Wylie Kopec came in 28th, with a time of 17:58; Calder McMillan placed 63rd with a time of 20:04, and Mason Sidloski was 71st with a time of 20:39.
