Weyburn Eagles football finishes first, playoffs set for Saturday

The Weyburn Comp Eagles versus the Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings game was cancelled on Saturday due to tragic events with the Vanier student body.

WCS Eagles player Owen Istace had his hand out to help him power through for more yards during their game vs the Swift Current Colts. The Eagles have finished in first, and will host Moose Jaw Peacock in a playoff match on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Darold Kot Field at 1 p.m.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Comp Eagles versus the Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings game was cancelled on Saturday due to tragic events with the Vanier student body.

Word had come on Saturday that a Vanier student had passed away the night before, and the game was called off.

The result of the game goes down as a forfeit for Vanier and a win for Weyburn.

The standings for the league are as follows:

Weyburn finishes in first place overall; Yorkton is in second; Moose Jaw Central is third; Moose Jaw Peacock is fourth; Swift Current finishes in fifth; Moose Jaw Vanier is sixth, and Estevan finishes in seventh.

The playoffs are as follows. All games are at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, unless agreed upon by both coaches.

Weyburn will host Peacock at Darold Kot Field; Yorkton will host Central, and Vanier will host Estevan.
